Psalm 116:12
What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?
Good morning to all of you!
Have you ever tried to repay someone for a kindness? Sometimes it's easy to give something back to a friend or relative; a gift you know they will love and cherish. But, then there are other times when it's quite difficult to find just the right gift that expresses the fullness of your love.
Years ago, David faced the same dilemma - "What can I give the Lord for all He has given me?" What a question, David!!! What can we truly give back to the Lord with regard to all that He has done for us? I'm not sure any of us can ever give back enough, but we can try. The Lord owns everything in this world, and He really NEEDS nothing - except us. He wants our hearts and our devotion; our dedication and commitment. I've heard it said most of my life that we are "free moral agents," meaning we can decide to whom we will give our allegiance.
Words aren't flowing easily today, but perhaps this song, written by Thomas A. Dorsey, will offer a tidbit of a spoonful to express my feelings:
I Could Never Outlove the Lord
Verse One
There've been times when living and loving brought pain
And I promised I would never let it happen again
But I found out that loving was well worth the risk
And that even in losing you win
Chorus
I'm going to live the way He wants me to live
I'm going to give until there's just no more to give
I'm going to love, love 'til there's just no more love
I could never ever outlove the Lord
Verse Two
He showed us that only through dying we live
And He gave when it seemed there was nothing to give
He loved when loving and heartache brought loss
He forgave from the old rugged cross
Let's do the best we can to offer the best we have back to the Best and the Greatest God!!!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing...............
