Monday's Moment

Genesis 22:11-14

11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

Good morning!
"Tis once again Marvelous Monday; another day we have been blessed to see. Sunday is behind us and only God knows what lies ahead of us. But, one thing is certain, if we lean on Him, we will walk in a straight, upright path.
The story of Abraham as indicated in our focus verses today has always caused me to pause and reflect. This man, Abraham, had waited so long for the son of promise, and then God asked him to sacrifice him on an altar. Yet, the morning after God gave Abraham instructions, we read that he got up early to perform the task. How heavy his heart must have been as he made the journey. But, on he walked because he had full trust in God.
As Abraham raised his hand to slay his son, God stopped him because now He knew just how much Abraham loved Him. Abraham did not simply talk about his love for God but he demonstrated it by being willing to give up his most prized possession - Isaac.
Some years back, I was blessed to hear Sis. Joan Ewing give a narration of a beautiful poem/song that she wrote. It is absolutely a great complement to this Bible story of Abraham and Isaac, as well as about our willingness to be like Abraham:
Now I know
by Murrell & Joan Ewing

Part One of the Narration
He left his father's land
Boyhood dreams were in the past
He held his son, God's promise,
What more would his Friend ask?
To yonder's mountain, Abram,
Take the fire and take the wood
So, trusting still, they climbed the hill
Knowing that what came
Would come for good
And when the altars were all finished
And the wood was all in place
He looked with love and sadness
Into his young son's face
God has asked this of me
There's no less that I can do
I have withheld nothing
I never dreamed He'd ask for you
And then the wind blew softly
God leaned close and whispered low
If I ever wondered how you love Me
Now I know
Part Two
I had left this world behind me
And my dreams were in the past
But, I held a few choice treasures
What more would my Friend ask?
Go to yonder's mountain
Take the fire and take the wood
So, trusting still, I climbed the hill
Knowing that what would come
Would come for good
When my altar was all finished
And the wood was all in place
I looked with fear and trembling
Into my own face
God, what are you asking
There's no less that I would do
I'm Yours, for whatever
All I have belongs to You
Then the wind blew softly
And my Best Friend whispered low
If I ever wondered how you love Me
Now I know
Part Three
The mansions were all finished
And the gold was all in place
I looked with awe and wonder
Into the Lamb's dear face
And then I cast my crown before Him
And bowed myself down low
If I'd ever wondered how He loved me
Now I know
Song
Now I know, now I know
The wondering is all over
And I know
There are times and things and places
That allow Your love to show
And the wondering is all over
And you know

May your Monday be marvelous with The Master. He is truly an awesome God.
If He's willing, I'll be back tomorrow with another spoonful!
