Song of Solomon 2:16
My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.
Good morning, one and all!
Once more, we have been granted another Special Sunday!
Many years ago, I heard a minister say that oftentimes people are looking for a "word from the Lord" when they come to church; something spoken straight from heaven just for them. As he so adeptly pointed out, the entire Bible is a "word from the Lord" - just for us. We can, and should, take the Word of God as a personal message, or love letter as I like to put it, each time we hear it preached or read it.
One very special chapter in the Bible contains such a personal message:
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Sometimes I recite this psalm as I'm praying, and I take the words as my very own. The Lord is MY shepherd; I shall not want. David may have written this psalm but I hold it as one of my dearest love letters that God ever inspired! Along with this psalm, the above verse from the Song of Solomon holds a precious message for me.... My beloved is MINE, and I am HIS!!
Wherever we are on the path of life, the Bible has a personal message that fits the occasion. The Lord is truly a personal Savior and, following that vein of thought, here's a song.....
He's a Personal Savior
by Lee Roy Abernathy
Verse One
You've heard about place called Heaven up in the blue
I'm glad that all my sins forgiven I'm telling you
I'd like to see you get this feeling you can receive
God's ready now to give you this feeling if you believe
Chorus
He's a personal Savior, He's mine I know, I love Him so
He did my soul a personal favor
That's why I'll tell it now wherever I may go
When I am blue and feeling oh, so down
He'll take me through, old Satan can't get me down
And from the path I'll never more waver
For He's a Friend, He's a personal Friend
Verse Two
Don't ever try to quench the Spirit when God's around
Some people seem to get so near it then turn it down
Judgment you're gonna see the Savior that you passed by
Think how you're gonna feel that morning when others cry
Trusting we all have the most Special Sunday ever, as we praise and worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Believing, too, that we will all receive a special "word from the Lord" today!
God bless you all on this first day of a new week and, if He's willing, I'll return tomorrow with yet another spoonful!
