Tuesday's Tidbit

Mark 5:41-43

41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

Good morning, one and all!
Thank God for another Tuesday morning! This is another day in which to live for God and shine for Him.
I love the story of Jesus being asked to go pray for Jairus' daughter as she lay dying, with the woman suffering from the issue of blood touching Him along the way, and the ultimate raising of Jairus' daughter after she had died. Simply put, I just love Jesus and all the stories written about Him in the Bible, and all that He has done in my own life.
One scene comes to mind and it was around Christmas Eve, somewhere between 1964-1966, when my uncle, aunt and cousins were spending an afternoon with us that Sunday in between our two church services. We had eaten lunch and, as we sat around talking, Uncle Benny began to hurt in his chest and then he seemed to be sweating. He laid down and we began to pray. God touched Him and, although he didn't see a doctor, we all believed he had suffered some type of heart attack. Jesus made house calls in His day, but He also made one in MY day!!
This song that I want to add today is a longtime favorite of mine -
The Promise
as performed by The Talley Trio (and others)
Verse One
A hand of fear gripped the crowd
That day at Jairus' home
When the doctor shook his head
and said, "She's gone"
You could feel that mother's heart break
You could hear them cry and mourn
Their little girl was only twelve years old

Somewhere in the distance
Outlined against the sun
There came a Man on a mission
From the throne
They said, "Look, somebody's coming"
But what they did not know
It was their Promise coming down
that dusty road

Chorus
There's a Promise coming down that dusty road
From His holy hand healing virtue flows
He's got the keys to what you need
Death and hell He will defeat
There's a Promise coming down that dusty road

Verse Two
Wonder turned to mocking
When Jesus did speak
He said, "Your daughter's not dead
She's just asleep"
Then He turned to the unbelievers
And He told them all "Go home"
They heard Him say
"Leave Me and death alone."

And then He laid His hand upon the child
And He looked death right in the eye
He said, "All power in Heaven
and earth belongs to me"
And with a voice that sounds like thunder
He hurled death asunder
When He said, "Little girl, rise and be healed"

This story stirs my spirit every time I hear it. There's so much power when The Promise walks into the room, or into any situation that seems impossible. Jesus has the power to look death right in the eye, and move it out of the way. His power is so vast that our human minds cannot even comprehend how much He contains. All we know is that nothing is impossible with Him!

Whatever the need, Jesus can meet it. Whatever the problem, Jesus can solve it. Look for Him, 'cause He's walking down your dusty road right now!

Have a Terrific Tuesday and I hope to see you again tomorrow.....
