Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Good morning, family and friends - 'Tis Sunday!
Every day is special because it is a gift from the Lord, but Sunday seems extra-special, don't you think? For some it may be just another day, but to those who love God, who are born-again Christians, this is the day of the week we set aside to attend church in order to worship Him. Going to God's house makes this day very special to me.
We entertained my husband's younger brother and his wife for the past two nights in our home. We sat up late each night, playing games, laughing. Yesterday, we shopped a little, and just had a tremendously good time. It was great to have family in our home. But, this morning, my body was not in a game-playing, let's laugh type mood. After going to bed late, and not fully resting until the wee hours of the morning, I was not ready to get up.
Then, I remembered how much fun I'd had over the past few days; how I gave all I had to enjoying company and having a good time. My heart began to ponder.... Was I going to give more energy to carnal things than to spiritual? Did having a good time in pleasure (and it was clean fun) mean more to me than going to God's house? Thank God for talking to me early this morning. (His talk plus the before-6-AM text from my daughter, telling me about the roast she had in the crock pot for her visiting minister and wife, moved me to arise. Love you, Heidi! *smile*)
Just a few words from a beautiful song have been on my mind for the past few days, and they seem so fitting for today's blog post:
He Is Here
by Karen Clark Sheard
There's a sweet anointing in the sanctuary
There's a stillness in the atmosphere
O come and lay down the burdens you have carried
For in the sanctuary, God is here
He is here, He is here
To break the yoke and lift the heavy burden
He is here, He is here
To heal the hopeless heart and bless the broken
O come and lay down the burdens you have carried
For in the sanctuary, God is here
Family and fun are great, but nothing compares to being in the presence of the Lord in HIS house, offering praise and worship to HIM. After all, without Him, we have no family, no good times, nothing!
May YOUR Sunday be the most special day you've lived yet! May great things happen in YOUR church and in mine.
Looking forward to today, and hoping to see you tomorrow, if it is His will!
Smiles!!!
