Psalm 103:1-5
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Good morning, one and all!
In the verses we're focusing on today, the Psalmist David has stirred himself up to bless the Lord with all that is within him. Every day is a good day to follow David's example, to stir up ourselves, and bless the Lord!! Not just with lip service, but with all our hearts, let's bless the Lord!
Bless the Lord, and "forget not all his benefits." Pause to remember and reflect on all the blessings of the Lord in our lives. Who deserves the praise for all He has done for us, and all He has given us - The Lord deserves all the praise!!
Why praise the Lord? He has forgiven us; healed us; kept us from destruction; and He has put a crown on our heads - beautiful crowns of "lovingkindness and tender mercies."
He satisfies us with "good things." And we are renewed!!! God deserves way more praise than we can ever give Him; but we can try. Why not make this last day of the work week a day of blessing the Lord, from morning to night? God is worthy of all our praise and adoration, but I fear that He receives so little compared to what is owed Him.
I love this song, another great one left to us by the late Andrae Crouch:
Bless the Lord, O my soul
And all that is within me
Bless His holy name
He has done great things
He has done great things
He has done great things
Bless His holy name
Until tomorrow, keep blessing the Lord...... see you then for another spoonful, Lord willing...........
Friday's footnote:
Psalm 34:1
1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
