Wednesday's Whisper

Mark 1:40-42

40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

Good morning, everybody!
I am enjoying reading through my Bible this year, as every time I read it through, I find something new and fresh. Just like God - every moment I spend in His presence offers me untold blessings that renew my soul. His Word is just like Him, as He IS the Word, and I find new treasures every time I pick up that precious book.
As I was reading in Mark 1 yesterday, I found something comforting in the story of the leper and Jesus. Leprosy was a horrible disease, rendering an individual unclean and separated from his family and friends. They were untouchable, yet when Jesus and the leper met in this particular setting, Jesus was "moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him....." Though removed from society, cast away from the caresses of family, he came in contact with the One who did not find him despicable. Jesus was affected by his condition, and He TOUCHED him! What others could not do, Jesus did.
Many today have been stricken with leprosy of the soul - or sin; multitudes are castaways; rejects. The world offers them no hope. Satan continually leads them into deeper sin. But, if they can ever come in contact with Jesus, their lives will never be the same again.
Today's song is one of the dearest classics ever penned:
He Touched Me
by Gloria and Bill Gaither

Verse One
Shackled by a heavy burden
'Neath a load of guilt and shame
Then the hand of Jesus touched me
And now I am no longer the same
Chorus
He touched me,
Oh He touched me
And oh the joy that floods my soul
Something happened
And now I know
He touched me
And made me whole
Verse Two
Since I met this blessed Savior
Since He cleansed and made me whole
I will never cease to praise Him
I'll shout it while eternity rolls

What a beautiful day, and oh, what a change, the day that Jesus touched me. My soul was cleansed. I was born again.
Pause to reflect on the day Jesus touched YOU. May it once again WOW your soul - that The Wonderful whispered peace as He cleansed you from all guilt and shame.
Until tomorrow.......
