Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Good morning, family and friends - It's FRIDAY!
As I was pondering what to write this morning, and since I like to pair up the beginning letter of the day with coordinating words, I decided on the subject of freedom. I'm thankful to live in America, which to me is still the "land of the free and the home of the brave." Grateful am I for religious freedom. Aside from that, I am especially grateful for the freedom I have been granted from Jesus Christ.
As it is with our country's freedom, so it is with our spiritual freedom in Christ Jesus - it did not come cheap. Men and women have lost their lives fighting for America, but Jesus Christ fought the greatest battle for our souls at Calvary. They died so that we could enjoy a land of freedom, but Jesus died that we might be free from the shackles of sin.
The Apostle Paul admonished the Galatians to "Stand fast" in the liberty that Christ had given. We must maintain our position of freedom in Christ, or we can so easily slip back into a life of spiritual bondage. Hold tightly to our precious spiritual freedom. Why would we want to be yoked again with sin and shame, when we can enjoy liberty in Jesus?
A few years ago, one new contemporary song became popular, and I'd like to share its lyrics with you all today:
Freedom
by Eddie James
I wanna clap a little louder than before
I wanna sing a little louder than before
I wanna jump higher than before
I wanna shout louder than before
Freedom, freedom, freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom, freedom
I wanna lift my hands higher than before
I wanna love You more than before
I wanna worship deeper than before
I gotta scream louder than before
Freedom......
No more shackles
No more chains
No more bondage
I am free
Hallelujah
I love the part about "no more shackles, no more chains, no more bondage.....I am FREE! Hallelujah." We are no longer bound by the oppression of Satan; we have been delivered from sin by the blood of Jesus Christ!
Let's rejoice that we are Free on this Fabulous Friday!
Lord willing, we'll meet again tomorrow for another spoonful.......
