Psalm 138:8
The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.
Good morning, everybody!
I awoke very early this morning, unable to sleep, so I began to read. The above verse from Psalms was the one that caught my attention. One thing I love about the Lord is that He never sleeps! We can talk to Him at any hour of the day or night; He not only listens but He speaks back precious things into our hearts.
It is one thing to know that the Lord loves everybody, but it's comforting to know that He loves ME. I can rejoice when I realize that the Lord has an abundance of resources, enough to take care of the entire world, but what matters most is that He has resources for ME. His mercy and grace flow to multitudes, but I'm overwhelmed in knowing that His mercy and grace flow to ME. A relationship with the Lord must be personal.
David had confidence when he wrote that "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me". What were David's concerns? He cared, or was concerned, about the things of the Lord, which meant that the Lord would perfect David in that regard. When we are concerned about the things of the Lord as David, we, too, can rest in the assurance that the Lord WILL perfect us.
One more aspect of David's confidence was in the Lord's enduring mercy. It is because of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed (Lamentations 3:22). David was not the only one who could confidently rest in the Lord's mercy - we can - I can!!
Finally, David offers to the Lord a plea that He will not forsake, "the works of thine own hands." The Lord not only made David; He made us; I am the work of His hands. The Lord created all things and all people, but nothing warms my heart any more than to know that He made ME!
This age-old chorus is the only song I can think of to add, but no message is any sweeter:
Jesus loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak, but He is strong
I'm glad God loves the world. I'm glad He loves YOU, but I'm really glad that He loves ME!!
Have a tremendous Thursday and I hope to see you tomorrow....
