Wednesday's Whisper

Proverbs 4:5-9

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

Good morning, and a Wonderful Wednesday morning it is!

One word came to mind this morning - wisdom; and I pray to impart to my readers a worthy spoonful of its tonic. According to one online dictionary, the definition for wisdom is: the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight. The verses I chose to go along with this post today give wisdom a high rating. Whatever we gain in life, it is imperative that we get wisdom; that we keep her because, if we do, she will preserve us. Wisdom is a principal thing; it is of great importance; by exalting wisdom in our lives, we are honored with a crown of glory.

Wisdom means to understand the consequences of all our actions before we act or speak, and wisdom puts us in agreement with God, others and ourselves. It is God's will for us to be wise, because God is wise. When we act wisely, we are conducting ourselves like God wants us to. When we follow wisdom in our dealings with others, it allows us to live peaceably among them. Individuals who seek after wisdom will find an inner peace and a feeling of self-worth. We must promote wisdom in our lives!

One of my favorite New Testament verses is:

James 1:5

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

One day while I was thinking on this verse, I kind of dissected it to better understand it - If we want wisdom, we must ask God for it because He gives it to anybody who seeks after it, and He gives it liberally, or abundantly, and He doesn't fuss at us because we don't have it; He gladly imparts wisdom to those who seek after it.
Gaining wisdom is no easy task; it must be sought after every day. The value of being wise far exceeds rubies. Nothing else that we can attain in life can be compared to wisdom.
I find myself without a song to go along with today's spoonful. Perhaps we can simply go on an adventure today of seeking more wisdom from God!

Until tomorrow, Lord willing................
