Thursday's Thought

1 Peter 2:9

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Good morning, one and all!
We have found as we travel that every church is different, especially in the songs that they sing. Some churches sing mostly newer, contemporary songs, others mostly older hymns and songs, and then some sing a mixture. Our church that we attend when we are home has a mixture of the new and old, and I like that. When you've lived for God fifty years, you've heard a lot of different types of music throughout those years.
Last night, a brother sang a song that has one of the sweetest melodies and truest lyrics, and I think I'll share that with you now. It was written by the late Rev. Murrell Ewing.....
Verse One
Just an old rejected relic on the auction block
They decided to throw me away
The auctioneer asked who will take him
The room was quiet and still
Then a stranger stepped forward
And He said, "I will."
Chorus
If you had known me before I knew Him
You'd understand why I love Him
If you had known me before I knew Him
You'd understand my love
Verse Two
I hadn't much to offer, just heartache and fears
And a life that was filled with despair
For my rags He gave me riches
For my fears He traded peace
For my old life He gave me a blessed relief
The Apostle Peter wrote that we should show the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. During worship time at church, it's amazing how some people are really giving it their all, while others seem so passive about it. Could it be that those who are giving themselves to worship, were brought from a deep, dark pit of sin and they're so grateful that they can't contain themselves? Jesus deserves so much more praise than any of us can ever give Him.
If we could look at the past sins of some people, we'd better understand the love they have for God. But, He has washed our sins, and buried them deep in the sea of forgetfulness; never to be remembered again! Praise God!
Let's keep worshipping the One who made all the difference in our lives!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing............
