Monday's Moment

John 4:10

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

A Marvelous Monday Morning to all of you!

God is good all the time, and He has blessed us to awaken to a new morning! Today's spoonful of thankfulness is for water - pure, thirst-quenching, satisfying, water. I'm a blessed woman because I have been granted the use of water. Sounds very simplistic, I know, but think about life without it, and you'll agree that it's an awesome blessing.

In many countries, water is scarce but not so where I live. I can turn on a faucet in several rooms and there's a never ending supply that flows. We drink water; we bathe in water; we wash clothes in water; we clean with water. It is a vital part of our everyday lives, so it deserves at least one blog post, don't you agree?

As I often do, my thoughts turn from natural things to spiritual and today's subject of water is no different. I like to imagine the woman at the well, a hurting woman, coming to the well and finding a stranger there. A stranger who wanted a drink of water from her and, worse than that, he was a Jew and she was a Samaritan. Surely her thoughts were going crazy - What is going on here? Oh, but after her encounter with Jesus, she received so much more than a drink of water... Jesus told her she could have a river in her soul!

Water is essential for salvation - John 3:5 -  "..... Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

1 Peter 3:21 - The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

I'm thankful for the water, both natural and spiritual, that is a blessing in my life. It's not an additive; it is essential, and I do not wish to take it for granted.
