Psalm 150:4
Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Good morning, family and friends!
Today I am thankful for music. While I do not consider myself an accomplished musician, I have played the piano since I was young, switching over to the organ some years later. In many churches where my husband ministers, I am blessed to play the organ along with their musicians. One of my favorite instruments is the organ, and I love to hear its smooth sound.
Sunday morning, as the praise singers were practicing for the church service, one young guitarist strummed a few chords on his electric guitar. I was drawn to its sound. I also love upbeat music, like choirs singing, and it makes me remember days when my oldest son played the drums in church. I always said he was born with rhythm. Our youngest son also played the drums for a time, and I enjoyed his display of musical ability, too.
Our daughter plays the keyboard, and is doing great. That's another instrument I love to hear played, and it has replaced the regular pianos in our churches (for the most part). My youngest brother and brother-in-law began playing pianos and/or organs when they were very young, and I enjoy hearing them play each time we're together.
One instrument that I just remembered is the accordion. Many churches used accordions back when I was in my teens, but it seemed to lose its importance as the years passed.
Trombones, trumpets, and saxophones are great instruments, yet not as popular. And, don't forget the tambourine!!
I love music, a wonderful accompaniment to the songs we sing at church. We keep the radio or CD player going almost constantly when we are not in church. Nothing lightens the mood quite like music.
God bless musicians far and wide today as they use the talents given to them for Him. Stop for a moment today and just enjoy the music around you, whether in your home, vehicle, or church. As you're enjoying its sound, thank God for giving us this pleasure here on earth.
Have a tune-filled Thursday!! I hope to see you tomorrow!
