Saturday's Snippet

Proverbs 15:3

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Good morning, everybody!
Thanks for joining me for Day 15, Chapter 15 in Perusing the Proverbs.
There are quite a few subjects touched on in this chapter, but one that appears more than once is the subject of the mouth. It starts with verse one where the reference is made to the benefit of a "soft answer".
Verse 2 mentions the "tongue of the wise", and the "mouth of fools". Verse 4 mentions a "wholesome tongue". Verse 7 mentions the "lips of the wise". In verse 8 we read about the "prayer of the upright". Verse fourteen once again mentions the "mouth of fools". Verse eighteen does not mention the mouth but we know that a wrathful man who stirs up strife definitely does it with his mouth, while the one slow to anger withholds his words.
Verse twenty-two mentions counsellors... don't they talk? Verse twenty-three mentions a man having joy "by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!" Verse twenty-six tells us that the "words of the pure are pleasant words." Verse twenty-eight mentions the righteous studying "to answer", but "the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things." According to verse twenty-nine, the Lord hears the "prayer of the righteous" (isn't prayer talking?) Finally, a "good report" is mentioned in verse thirty, and we understand that a report comes from someone speaking.
The "eyes of the Lord" are mentioned in verse 3. The "light of the eyes" is mentioned in verse thirty.
Ears and hearing are also mentioned in Chapter 15. Verse twenty-nine mentions that the Lord hears. The "ear" is mentioned in verse thirty-one. And, in verse thirty-two, we read that a person who hears reproof gets understanding.
The heart is also mentioned in quite a few verses. Verse 7 mentions the "heart of the foolish". Verse thirteen describes the "merry heart" with the cheerful countenance but also that "by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken." Verse fourteen instructs us that the heart with understanding seeks knowledge. Verse fifteen tells us that if we have a merry heart we will have a "continual feast."
Verse twenty-eight advises us that the "heart of the righteous studieth to answer" while the wicked just pour out all kinds of evil.
I could go on and on about the different subjects found in Chapter 15 but I will not write about any others in this blog post. I trust you're reading along with me and finding your own treasures as we go through Proverbs together.
God bless you this Saturday and, Lord willing, I'll see you tomorrow.........
