Wednesday's Whisper

Proverbs 12:28

In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Good morning, everybody!
Today is what I like to call Wonderful Wednesday because, in spite of what we may be facing, we do serve THE Wonderful... so every Wednesday with God is truly Wonderful!! Thanks for stopping by as we continue Perusing the Proverbs, Day 12, Proverbs 12.
I trust that you're reading each chapter along with me and jotting down your own thoughts. The comments I write in my blog post are just my thoughts and are definitely not the ultimate ones. We all gather different treasures from the scriptures at different times. What touches me today may not touch you; what touches you tomorrow may not affect me the same way. I just enjoy reading and studying God's Word, and I believe you do, too!
Chapter 12 begins with commendation of those who love instruction and knowledge as opposed to those who despise reproof and are cruel. To be a good person means to obtain God's favor, but God condemns the wicked. Nothing is ever built on wickedness but the righteous have a strong foundation. They are unmovable.
A virtuous woman is a blessing to her husband. It's a blessing to know and observe a couple who love the Lord and each other, and who complement one another. On the other hand, it's disturbing to observe a couple where the wife is not a blessing to her husband (she makes his bones rot).
Righteous people think right thoughts while the wicked are filled with deceit. Words of the wicked are out for blood while the upright are trying to deliver them. People like wise men but perverse people - well, no one likes them.
You'd be better off, even if you're despised, to have a servant than to honor yourself and go hungry. A righteous man treats his animals with care. If we work and till our land, we will be rewarded with bread; follow vain persons, you'll go without. The root of the righteous yields fruits. If we speak righteous words, we will be rewarded; the same will happen if we work with our hands.
Don't be foolish - hearken to counsel and be wise. Speak truth. Words can pierce and cut people but the tongue of the wise is health; their words build up and edify. Truth will last forever but a lie is short-lived. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but He loves truth.
Be a counsellor of peace and be filled with joy. No evil will happen to the just. Be prudent and be quiet, as opposed to being foolish and blurting out a bunch of nonsense.
Diligent or hard-working, industrious people will be leaders, while the lazy or slothful people will serve them.
Have you ever had a heavy heart? It makes you feel low, doesn't it? But, then to receive a good word changes everything; gladness comes.
A righteous man or woman will guide his neighbor while a wicked person will lead them astray.
The last verse tells us that there is life if we walk in the way of righteousness, and this path leads to eternal life! What a promise! What a hope!
I hope you have enjoyed today's blog post, and will join me tomorrow when, Lord willing, we'll continue searching for treasures in the Book of Proverbs!
