Saturday's Snippet

Psalm 47:6

Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

Good morning, a Sweet Saturday morning, to all of you.....
I was thinking about singing this morning. What are the benefits we might receive from singing? A few I read about were:
It exercises our lungs
Helps promote sleep
Releases pain relieving endorphins
Tones our facial muscles
Helps reduce anger and anxiety
It is an emotional pick-me-up
Sometimes we sing alone, but there's something special when a group of people (as in a congregation at church) sings together. Each person gives out their own musical tones and those tones mix together with the end result being sweet harmony. I have felt so many benefits of singing while at church. Singing carries with it numerous benefits but when it's mixed with a true adoration for the Lord, well, there's just nothing any more soothing. Problems seem to float away when singing is taking place.
The verse from Psalms that is our focus today mentions the word "sing" four times. It would seem that the author is intent in getting the message across. We need to sing - but not for us - we need to sing for Him. The Lord is the author of the words and the music; by Him all things were made and for Him all things were made.
Dottie Rambo wrote a beautiful song many years ago, and here are a few words of that song that I recall:
He knows just when to give the song
He knows where every word belongs
He's the Master of the music
He's the Song
Sing it high or low, sweet or slow
Makes no difference how the music goes
In every situation
He knows when to give the song
I hope you find a song to sing today. Bring on the originality - write the lyrics. Be sure to sing it with all your heart unto the One who gave the song in the first place. It will surely brighten your day.
Until tomorrow, I'll be singing along my way....... you do the same!
