Thursday's Thought

Luke 5:31

And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

Good morning! We made it over Hump Day into Terrific Thursday!
I was reading in Mark 5 this week about the woman with the issue of blood. One verse caught my attention:

Mark 5:26

And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
It said that she "suffered many things of many physicians" - doesn't it sound strange that she would suffer at the hands of those who were supposed to help her? She never got better but only "grew worse." The disorder in her body continued until she heard about Jesus. He was her last resort; her only hope. She had nothing left to pay for yet another physician's services.
But Jesus was no ordinary physician. He was and still is the Great Physician. When that woman touched his garment - WOW! Can you imagine the impact as His virtue coursed through her body and made her whole! She KNEW she was made whole! And, Jesus knew that someone had touched Him!
The first verse in today's spoonful tells us that the whole, or well, people do not need a physician, but sick people need a physician. And, that's why Jesus came. To heal the broken, set the captives free.......
We know that the healing of a person's soul is far greater than the healing of a body, but Jesus still heals our sicknesses. He is still within reach, maybe not physically as with the woman with the issue of blood, but in Spirit. We can touch Him and be made whole, even today.
If you have had to visit a doctor's office recently, you possibly have felt a little frustrated because you do not always get the answers you're seeking; sometimes they move slowly in getting paperwork faxed; or you cannot even talk to the doctor, etc. But, such is not the case with Jesus. He still makes house calls, and He is definitely on call 24/7. And, if the answer to our problem is slow in coming, we know that He will answer when it is best for us.
Here's a beautiful song, written by John Stallings - Touching Jesus -
Verse One
A woman tried many physicians
Yet grew worse, so to Jesus she came
And when the crowd tried to restrain her,
She whispered these words through her pain
Chorus
Touching Jesus is all that really matters
Then your life will never be the same
There's only one way to touch Him
Just believe when you call on His name
Verse Two
Now, I was bound when I knelt at that old altar
But they said Jesus could meet every need
And when this prisoner finally touched Jesus
He set me free, Praise the Lord, free indeed!
Trusting your Thursday is touched by the Master!

Until tomorrow, Lord willing..................
