Sunday's Specialty

Psalm 18:1-2 

I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Good morning, and a sweet Sunday it is!

Today is the first day of March, and the first day of a new week. Since this first day of the month falls on a Sunday, what better way to start a month and a week than with a focus on the One who has allowed it to happen? In reading the above verses this morning, I was reminded once more that God is a personal God. 

Breaking these verses down, David spoke of God in these personal terms:

My strength

My rock

My fortress

My deliverer

My God

My buckler

Horn of My salvation

My high tower

But, God did not belong to just David, He belongs to us, His children. Although David penned these beautiful words about His God centuries ago, they are still relevant to us today. Pardon me as I become a wee bit selfish here, and I do not feel that God minds it one bit if I do, but David's God is MY God.

He's the one I lean on

He's the strength of MY life

He's MY hiding place

The glory and lifter up of MY head

I'm glad that God is a personal God. We can all have a personal relationship with Him. However close we want to be to God, however close we want Him to be to us, it's ours for the asking. We may suffer the loss of many things and many loved ones in our lives, but we will never be parted from our God. He's ours for ever and always.
