All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

Proverbs 17:22

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

The definition for merry is: cheerful and lively, with a few synonyms being: joyful and joyous.


Good morning, and a Marvelously Merry Monday to all of you!!

An early morning text said that today was "Fun Day", so along those lines I began to think about being merry and then the word joy came to mind. This kids' song from long ago started playing in my mind, too  --

I've heard it said that happiness is circumstantial, but true joy comes from the Lord. His joy is our strength, and in His strength we can do all things.

I pray your week has started off in a merry way. As the verses above point out, if we have a merry heart (or a joyful one), we will never be hungry and we will always have our "tonic".
