Saturday's Snippet

Deuteronomy 6:5

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Sweet Saturday, everybody!
I am usually writing my daily blog post in the mornings, but today is my first time to write in the evening, so I couldn't very well say, "Good morning," now, could I?
Since my parents celebrated their 65th anniversary yesterday, I've been continuing to think of their impact in my life. I was reminded this morning of how serious my folks were about church. We were not allowed to "act up" in God's house. How clearly I can recall getting into trouble for being silly during altar call. I don't believe I did that a second time!
My parents sat on the second pew, organ side, and I sat right in front of them. I'm sure they watched my every move. To this day, I usually sit on the first or second pew in whatever church we attend during our travels. On the few occasions I have had to sit in the back of the church, I find that I am terribly distracted sitting that far from the platform. There's just something about being close to the action.
I'm just grateful that my parents taught me to take church to heart. Church time is not play time; it's serious business. Our souls, and those of others are at stake. We must worship in earnest. Early on, Dad and Mom taught me to love my God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I have felt a deep appreciation today for the valuable lessons I learned growing up.
My Dad used to sing this sweet song, and the words will be written down from memory...
I'm in Love with Jesus
(author unknown)

I'm in love with Jesus
And He's in love with me
I've a picture of King Jesus
I would love to let you see
He's the healer of all diseases
He's the Master of the seas
Oh, I'm in love with Jesus
And He's in love with me

I was sad and I was lonely
I was poor as I could be
Until someone came and told me
"The Master calleth thee"
I lifted my head in wonder
King Jesus was reaching for me
Oh, I'm in love with Jesus
And He's in love with me

You may wonder why I'm happy
You may wonder why I'm free
Since the Mighty God of Heaven
Laid His hand on me
He tells me not to worry
He'll supply my every need
Yes, I'm in love with Jesus
And He's in love with me

Someday I'm going there to meet Him
When from this world I'm free
On a golden harp I'll praise Him
And I'll dance on the glassy sea
I'll cast my crown before Him
The King eternally
Oh, I'm in love with Jesus
And He's in love with me

Feeling extremely grateful for my upbringing today!
God bless the rest of your sweet Saturday... hopefully, I'll see you again tomorrow....

  1. This one gets me
I can still hear him sing it...

Guess I should also mention that depending on how long the service went I could be found under your pew
    Rocking myself to sleep

    How priceless is our heritage
The legacy of living life to love Jesus

    May we never forget

    Love you, Sis.
