Psalm 116:1
I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
1 John 4:19
We love him, because he first loved us.
Happy Valentine's Day, to my family and friends!
In thinking about love, and not just on this particular day but all year long, I am reminded of the great love of God. His love is the greatest, sweetest, deepest, and the best..... but my love for Him should be the same. Accepting His love each day seems easy but often I feel that I fall so short in returning my love to Him.
The Five Love Languages, a book written by author Gary Chapman, sets out five ways to speak love to one's mate. For today, I will use those five points in expressing my love to God via this blog post.
Acts of service - I will show my love to God by my worship; lifting my hands in adoration to Him. I will share God's love to the people I meet today. I will be His servant, willingly and gladly.
Quality time - I will spend time in prayer today - just my Lord and I, to let Him know He's number One in my life. I will talk with Him, and I will listen to Him.
Words of Affirmation - How can I say enough to affirm GOD? He is great. He is wonderful. His works are marvelous..... I will speak these words to Him today (and every day).
Physical touch - I cannot touch God with my hands today, but I will cling to Him with my heart and soul.
Gifts - My gifts to the Lord today will be my worship, my praise, my monetary offering.... and I will give it with a cheerful heart.
Here is the chorus of a song for my God today:
I Love Him
by Stephen C. Foster
I love Him
I love Him
Because He first loved me
And purchased my salvation
On Calv'ry's tree
What a wonderful love I am given daily from God, and each day I want to return that love to Him!!
Have a very special Sunday with the Savior!
If He's willing, I'll be back tomorrow with another spoonful!
