Psalm 135:5
For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
Good morning, one and all!
'Tis Terrific Tuesday once again! Thanks be to God for another day to be alive and to serve Him!
What does it mean to "know" something? From the Merriam-Webster online dictionary we find this definition:
"Simple Definition of know. : to have (information of some kind) in your mind. : to understand (something) : to have a clear and complete idea of (something) : to have learned (something, as a skill or a language)."
To know something is to have an understanding. Have you ever pondered the many things that your mind (and heart) knows? We have a vast amount of understanding contained within us. Our focus verse for today tells us that we know that the Lord is great, and He is above all other gods!
Here are just a few more verses from the Bible about the things we know:
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
We KNOW that all things work together for good, if we love God, and are called according to HIS purpose.
1 John 5:14-15
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
I love these two verses. We have confidence in the Lord that if we ask any thing according to HIS will, he hears us, but it doesn't stop there. If we KNOW that He hears us, we KNOW that we will have our prayers answered!! What a confidence. What a knowing or understanding!
Job 19:25
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Although Job had suffered the loss of his children, livestock, his health, etc., yet he had confidence, he understood, that his Redeemer lived! In spite of his pain, he held onto His God who had never failed him. His confidence in God keep him secure in times of trouble.
This brings me to a beautiful song.....
Redeemer
by Nicole C. Mullen
Verse One
Who taught the sun
Where to stand in the morning
And who taught the ocean
You can only come this far
And who showed the moon
Where to hide till evening
Whose words alone can
Catch a falling star
Chorus
Well, I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testifies
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives
Verse Two
The very same God
That spins things in orbit
Runs to the weary
The worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands
That hold me when I'm broken
They conquer death to bring me victory
Bridge
He lives to take away my shame
And He lives forever I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sin
Was the precious life He gave
But now He's alive and there's an empty grave
We do not know what tomorrow holds but we do know WHO holds tomorrow, and we KNOW He holds our hands!!
Make a list... or try to.. of the things you KNOW today. You'll be surprised at the encouragement you'll find from your list, especially in what you know about God.
God bless you all today and, if He is willing, I'll see you tomorrow with yet another spoonful!
