Saturday's Snippet

Romans 6:20, 22

20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Sweet Saturday to all of you....
The day is almost gone, but I wanted to send this blog post out before retiring for the night. The ladies' retreat that I attended in Highlands, TX was by far the best ever. I gleaned so much from the speakers, and came away refreshed because of the fellowship.
One speaker challenged us to be better servants of the Lord; to always be ready to do whatever is needed for Him in His kingdom. How sad for those who sometimes view doing menial jobs for the Lord beneath them? It is so important to have the heart of a true servant, whether in teaching children in Sunday School or cleaning the church bathrooms.
There is a blessing in being a servant, even though it costs much in the way of labor. Nothing that we do for God goes unnoticed by Him. There will be a reward for those who faithfully serve Him with a cheerful heart.
I remembered this chorus from long ago. It was recorded on one of the Psalty the Singing Songbook's records:
Make me a servant
Humble and meek
Lord let me lift up those who are weak
And may the prayer of my heart always be
Make me a servant
Make me a servant
Make me a servant today

My heart is overwhelmed with all of the wonderful teaching I heard this weekend, but I want to be not only a hearer but a doer of what God has imparted to me through these precious, godly ladies.
Enjoy the remainder of your Saturday, and I hope to be back tomorrow with yet another spoonful!
