Saturday's Snippet

2 Timothy 4:7-8

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Good morning, one and all!
What a sweet Saturday to be alive and well, grateful to God for His blessings!
Last night, we attended a service in Lake Charles, LA, otherwise known as Youth Weekend. The First Apostolic Church of Moss Bluff put on a wonderful drama entitled, "Blood Bought." The drama's overall theme was to portray the price paid for our salvation, and those who kept alive the truth of God's Word throughout all ages.
There were happy scenes when they acted out the Day of Pentecost, yet there were sad, tragic scenes as they portrayed the martyring of Christians from ages past. It was a well-written, well-acted drama, but above all it was filled with scriptures, and it was soul-stirring.
In several scenes, the life of Paul was depicted; his preaching, some of his travels, but then the ending of his life. A guillotine was set up and the acted out beheading of the Apostle Paul took place. I know it wasn't real but it gripped my heart heavily, and the feeling is still with me this morning. Paul loved his God and His word. He loved it enough to die for it.
Paul's final words were...."I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." He knew that his life on earth was ending but he looked through eyes of faith at the reward awaiting him on the other side of the chopping block.
Today, I am more thankful than ever before of Calvary, and this Apostolic Church. I am especially grateful to those who stood for truth even when it meant laying down their lives for it.
May my heart and life be so bound up in God that I will not only live for Him, but I will gladly lay down my life for Him. I am so thankful to be blood bought!!
Here is a little chorus from long ago....
For me to live is Christ
For me to live is Christ
I reckon myself dead unto sin
And live my life for Him
Have a Sweet Saturday with the Savior, who shed His blood for us at Calvary. He died so that we might live.... in this present world.... and with Him for eternity!
