Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Good morning, one and all!
Marvelous Monday morning to you, my faithful readers! The sun is shining here in LA, and I'm glad.
I've written a few times about "weighty" issues, namely, problems with losing and gaining pounds. Some time Saturday I came to grips with this ongoing situation in my life, so I picked up a book that I had read over a year ago. The title is Made to Crave, written by Lysa Terkeurst. Because of the author's own difficulties with eating habits, she knows the battle and gives great insight for a solution. It was encouraging to re-read some of her thoughts.
One of the points Lysa made, and the one I repeated to myself all day Saturday and Sunday, was about choices. She pointed out that the choices we make one day won't solve the problem for the rest of our lives; the same choices have to be made EVERY day. Wow! Simple yet profound wisdom here. If I choose healthy eating on Monday, come Tuesday morning, those choices must be made again .... if I want to succeed!
The same holds true for spiritual matters. When Jesus walked on this earth, He spoke these words:
Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
If we want to follow Jesus, we have to not only deny ourselves, but take up our crosses DAILY, and follow Him. If we choose on Monday to follow Jesus, then on Tuesday, we once again must pick up our crosses. Choosing to follow Jesus ten years ago won't solve the problem today; it has to be a continual and daily process.
The Apostle Paul reiterated Jesus' words when he wrote this verse:
1 Corinthians 15:31
I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
The Apostle Paul made a daily choice to die out to his old man, but he also wrote in another epistle about being renewed (Ephesians 4:23). We die every day, but we must be renewed in order to stay on the King's highway.
Writing about choices helps me make those choices. Some choices are easier to make than others. To follow Jesus is an easy one for me; I want no other lifestyle but the Christian walk and talk; I want no other Master but Jesus!
On the natural side, well, I'm being transparent here..... the choice to eat healthy is not always easy for me but, if I want to feel better, I will decide wisely.
God bless you all on this Marvelous Monday... make good choices... and I hope to be back again tomorrow....
Great post!!!
