Sunday's Specialty

Luke 24:1-8

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
And they remembered his words,

Good morning, and a Happy Easter to you all!
While the story of the crucifixion bothers me greatly, the story of the resurrection thrills me. The agony was over for Jesus and, early on the first day of the week, He arose - victorious over death, hell and the grave! Because HE lives, we can live also!
Imagine being one of the women walking toward the tomb, wondering who will roll away the stone, only to find it already rolled away! They came to anoint the dead body of their Savior, but He was no longer there!
The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus is a symbol of our born again experience - we die out to our sins through repentance at an altar, then we are buried with Him through baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and receiving the Holy Ghost is the resurrection to walk in newness of life!!! As Christ was victorious over death, we are victorious through Him over sin!
I'm glad to serve a risen Savior, and I believe I'll add the song that my daughter is using for her Sunday School class this morning:

Celebrate
by Don Moen

Celebrate Jesus, celebrate
Celebrate Jesus, celebrate
Celebrate Jesus, celebrate
Celebrate Jesus, celebrate

He is risen
He is risen
And He lives forevermore
He is risen
He is risen
Come on and celebrate
The resurrection of our Lord

May our Easter Sunday be a wonderful celebration, but may it become a daily celebration - Jesus lives!!
Lord willing, I'll return tomorrow for another spoonful.....
