Acts 6:3
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
Good morning, one and all!
'Tis Terrific Tuesday or it may turn into Tempestuous Tuesday, if the weather man is correct. Either way, we serve a Terrific God, who still calms the tempest!!
As I was trying to think of a spoonful of tonic for today, my mind went to the voting that's going on around our country. Americans are trying to place their vote for the right man or woman to lead our country. From the debates I have heard, this will be no easy task.
Too bad that the leaders of our country are not chosen as the men were chosen in Acts 6. The credentials for the men back then were: honesty, filled with the Holy Ghost and wisdom, for starters. I wonder how many good candidates we'd have if those traits were required for a U. S. President?
Politicians have been known as crooks and liars throughout the years, and many may have been. Although I do not have any politicians as close family or friends, I hope that somewhere in our country there are still some honest leaders.
Turning away from politicians, I thank God for the leaders we have in our churches today. People who live godly, and truly let their lights shine for Jesus. There are leaders among us who pray, fast, read and live the Bible, and work for the Lord with all their hearts. There are still passionate leaders among us who consistently reach out to a lost and dying world. I thank God for these leaders!
This sweet song just came to my mind, and I'll share it with you as I close today's post:
Thank You for Giving to the Lord
by Ray Boltz
I dreamed I went to heaven
And you were there with me;
We walked upon the streets of gold
Beside the crystal sea.
We heard the angels singing
Then someone called your name.
We turned and saw a young man running
And he was smiling as he came.
And he said, "Friend you may not know me now."
And then he said, "But wait,
You used to teach my Sunday School
When I was only eight.
And every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start.
And one day when you said that prayer,
I asked Jesus in my heart."
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave.
Then another man stood before you
And said, "Remember the time
A missionary came to your church
And his pictures made you cry.
You didn't have much money,
But you gave it anyway.
Jesus took the gift you gave
And that's why I'm here today."
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave.
One by one they came
Far as the eye could see.
Each life somehow touched
By your generosity.
Little things that you had done,
Sacrifices made,
Unnoticed on the earth
In heaven, now proclaimed.
And I know up in heaven
You're not supposed to cry
But I am almost sure
There were tears in your eyes.
As Jesus took your hand
And you stood before the Lord.
He said, "My child, look around you.
Great is your reward."
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave.
The rewards of laboring for the Lord may not be seen while we live here and work on this earth, but one day up in heaven, great will be the reward of God's diligent workers!
Praying for all God's leaders today to continue to hold up the blood-stained banner and work for the Lord. The pay may not be much but the retirement plan is out of this world!!!
Enjoy your Tuesday, and I pray we can gather together again tomorrow!
