Friday's Footnote

Isaiah 55:1

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Fabulous Friday to all of you!
Several times in scripture we read the word, "Come." A simple invitation to leave where you are to find something different. Isaiah 55:1 extends the invitation to the thirsty and to those who have no money. It seems to say, to whosoever will, bring your dry, barren, broken soul to the Lord - for He has all you need and He is all you need.
The invitation was still extended in the New Testament, for in Matthew 11:28 we read:
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

The invitation is still being extended in 2015, and in last night's service, the first night of revival in Highlands, TX, a young man took hold of that personal invitation. He made his way to an old-fashioned altar and knelt, weeping before the Lord. And, before the service was over, he was baptized in the wonderful, powerful Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins. He came and he received!!!

The Hinsons wrote and sang a song years ago that seems appropriate for today:

Chorus
Come to the life giving water
Just one sip will cleanse the soul from sin
There's just something about the water
That makes everybody long to come again

What a thrill to see the good news of Jesus Christ penetrate the hearts of people today!

Friday's Footnote:  Max Lucado wrote a book, and the title says it all: Come Thirsty: No Heart Too Dry for His Touch

Until tomorrow, Lord willing.................
