Psalm 27:14
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Good morning, family and friends!
We are blessed to see another day, and may it be a terrific Thursday for each one of us - and it will be all because we know a Terrific God! It is all because of Him that we live, move and have our being.
Do you like to wait for things to happen, or for someone to show up for an appointment? When I was a child, we only had one car and if Dad was gone to work, we either walked everywhere or had to call someone to give us a ride. Whenever we did call someone to come and pick us up, I had a hard time waiting patiently for their arrival. Still today, I have to work on being patient when it comes to waiting for someone. I am also a little impatient in my soul when I am waiting on an answer to a prayer. But, I'm learning that God's timing is so much more important than mine.
I believe I mentioned in an earlier blog post about learning of a different definition for waiting. Some years back, when I taught Sunday School, the teacher's manual talked about "waiting on God" in the sense that we "serve" Him, much like a waiter or waitress "waits" on tables. I was very impressed with that new way of viewing the waiting process.
Imagine the Lord is our guest today, and we are the waiters (or waitresses), whether in our home or wherever we choose to eat a meal.
"What would You like to drink today, Lord?"
"What would You like to order this time, Lord?"
Perhaps it sounds comical but I do have a tendency to view things in odd ways, but there is a truth to this type of waiting, or serving. If we wait on the Lord as in serving Him, then the verse today tells us that He will strengthen our hearts. We give to the Lord, and He returns manifold blessings back to us.
So, while waiting patiently for the Lord to return to take us all away, let's wait on Him, serving Him with gladness and sincerity. It's a good life living for the Lord, and there's nothing any more fulfilling than waiting on Him with a true servant's heart.
I remember this chorus since I was quite young, but it seems to fit with today's spoonful of thought:
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength
They shall mount up with wings as an eagle
They shall run and not be weary
They shall walk and not faint
Teach me, Lord,
Teach me, Lord
To wait
May there be among us all a deep sense of the presence of God wherever we go and in whatever we do today. Let Him be our honored guest, and wait on Him with utmost care and love!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing..............
