Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Good morning, family and friends!
We are all at different stages of life, some of us are young, others middle age, while others are in the senior years. Our ideas are different as well as our goals. Yet, there is a common ground we can stand on, a place of agreement, a universal goal - the giving of our best. Whatever our job or profession might be, we should aim for excellence; daily striving to give our best and to be our best, whether in living for God or in our daily chores.
Two points to ponder today, or two thoughts on this Thursday - whatever our hand finds to do, do it with all our hearts and energy; and, in everything we endeavor to do, let it be for the glory of God. Every move we make needs to first of all be focused on the Lord. The glory always needs to be toward God and never toward ourselves. If we exalt Him, He will lift us up in due time.
Here is a good quote from Dickens:
Whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself to completely; in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest."
These ideas bring me to the song for today, Totally Devoted, written by the late Rev. Don H. Johnson:
Verse One
If you've got a song you can sing
And if you've got a word you can speak
Share it with the world today
It needs what you've got
Yes, brother, there's a job you can do
We must go and preach the truth
Jesus in me longs to see
People filled with the Holy Ghost
Chorus
Totally devoted to the work of the Lord
It's the song in my heart, the praise on my lips
The burden down in my heart
I surrender all that I am and ever will be
I must do something for the King of kings
Dear Lord, I pray that I stay totally devoted to You
Verse Two
There's a beacon shining so bright
Shining in the darkest night
That beacon is the Word of God
It will never go out
I want that Word to shine through me
I'd like to help the bound go free
I'm willing to be used, Dear Lord,
So I give myself to Thee
Totally devoted and totally surrendered to the Lord - that's the best life to live here on this earth. Our reward on the other side will be payment enough - life everlasting with Jesus!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing............
