John 8:32

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Centuries ago, as he looked into the face of Jesus, Pontius Pilate posed a question that is still being asked by thousands today - "What is truth?" (John 18:38). According to the dictionary, truth means "a verified or indisputable fact; proposition, principle, or the like." If I could use one word to describe the word truth, it would be absolute. Truth is solid; a foundation to build upon.

In John 14:6, Jesus declares, "I am the way, the truth, and the life:...." If we take away all the fancy and fluff, and put it plainly, Jesus is truth. Jesus is The Absolute. Laying aside all our preconceived ideas and theories, Jesus IS!! And, the only way to be truly free from the guilt of sin and shame is to find it in Jesus. He alone, being truth, sets us free!

All the knowledge in the world nor all the philosophies of man can ever come close to setting people free. We must not be deceived by all that surrounds us daily. We must hold on to the truth that we find in Jesus. He declared that we "must be born" (John 3), and He gave the Apostle Peter the "keys of the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 16); keys that he used on the day of Pentecost and also to Cornelius and his household, offering the one and only plan of salvation - repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost, as experienced in Acts 2 and Acts 10.

I am so thankful for truth; grateful that I know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is my solid foundation, my Rock of Ages!!! Here is our song for the day, My Hope is Built on Nothing Less, written by Edward Mote:

Jesus Christ remains when all other foundations crumble! He has always been and He always will be!! Thank you, Jesus, for being the truth that sets us free, and the Rock that will never shift nor erode!
