Proverbs 3:5-7
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
Good morning to my family and friends!
The verses I chose for today's spoonful are familiar to all of us, probably memorized by every child in Sunday School early on. Truly, they are a great plan for any individual seeking to live a full and satisfying life.
First of all, our trust must be in the Lord - all of our trust, as we depend on His understanding and wisdom rather than our own. How many times throughout our years have we messed up simply because we were leaning on our own understanding?
In everything we do, we must acknowledge the Lord; in other words, admit God is alive and the most important One in our lives. The reward for acknowledging God in all our ways is the benefit of His direction, and not our own. He will lead us if we esteem Him higher than any other force in our lives.
Our wisdom is extremely limited compared to God's wisdom. God is omniscient. He knows everything! Fear Him, this awesome God. Stand in awe of Him, seeking to be holy as He is, turning from evil.
These three verses lead me to one thought - We are nothing without Christ. We need Him with all His power and majesty. We can do nothing of ourselves, but along with Paul we can say "I can do all things through Christ...."
I love this sweet song, and feel it agrees with the verses from Proverbs 3 (Nothing Without Christ, written by Newsong):
Verse One
I was like a blind man on a road that led nowhere
Just an empty-hearted beggar in desperate need of help
I was poor in spirit, but He was rich in love
I was down to nothing when He came to lift me up
Now I will never let myself forget all He has done
How He came and rescued me and where He brought me from
Chorus
I am nothing without Christ, He is everything to me
He's the reason that I live, He is my only need
I know I couldn't make it through
One day without Jesus in my life
I am nothing, nothing without Christ
Verse Two
There is nothing good in me that didn't come from Him
Nothing I could boast of that He did not give
From the moment I cried out to Him to heal my troubled soul
He welcomed me with open arms, said all that's mine is yours
Bridge:
Like a wave without a seashore or a kingdom without a king
Without Jesus in my life, I know I wouldn't be complete
Listen closely today, and hear the Lord whisper to your heart. "Trust Me. Acknowledge Me. I'll direct you. Seek My wisdom. Fear Me. Depart from all that's not like Me."
Until tomorrow, Lord willing.............
