Matthew 24:42-44
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Good morning, one and all!
Just two days ago, I wrote about the coming of the Lord. Last night at church, the minister spoke about the same subject and even used some of the scriptures I had used in my blog! I love when that happens. It's like being in one mind and one accord. Once more, I feel like sharing another spoonful about the same subject - Jesus is coming soon!
The above scriptures from Matthew 24 were mentioned during the sermon last night, so I chose them for the focus verses today. Jesus instructed His disciples to "Watch" and in another scripture setting to "watch and pray." We must be prepared because we do not know when our Lord is coming.
When I was in my late teens, a minister said that as the coming of the Lord draws nigh, the church will be like a metal piece that is attracted to a large magnet. The closer that object gets to the magnet, it begins to tremble slightly because of the magnetic pull. The church is feeling that "tremble" even now because there is a sense of excitement in the air. Soon and very soon we will see our King! Hallelujah!
I still love this song, written by Aaron Wilburn and Eddie Crook, but sung by the Happy Goodman Family, Just Any Day Now:
Verse One
Each time I stop and take the time to look around me
I see the signs of His appearing everywhere
The things He said would come to pass are now before us
And I can feel a strange excitement in the air
Chorus
Just any day now, our Lord is coming
He'll be returning for you and me
For I've been watching and I've been waiting
Just any day now, His face I'll see
Verse Two
Oh, there's a longing in my heart for his appearing
I'll gladly leave behind these trials here below
For this journey has been long and I'm so weary
But, Lord, I feel I'm so much closer home
The trip of a lifetime is right around the corner, so to speak, and we must keep our spiritual bags packed, as we never know when we will be called to go, or when the Lord will return for us!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing.............
