Ephesians 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
A Sweet Saturday to all of you!
Have you ever been mistreated? How did it feel? On the other hand, have you ever been treated with kindness? How did that type of treatment feel? We've all encountered both types of treatment, and I believe we'd all agree that being treated with kindness far outweighs being mistreated any day of the week!
We are admonished by God through the scriptures to treat others with love and tenderness, forgiving others because we have been forgiven. The Golden Rule teaches us to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. We are also instructed to love our neighbors as ourselves. If we desire to obey God, we will love Him and do His commandments, one of which is to be kind.
Henry Amiel left this quote:
Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are traveling the dark journey with us. Oh, be swift to love, make haste to be kind!
A song that plays almost daily on the Enlighten station on our XM/Sirius radio is Show A Little Bit of Love and Kindness by the Collingsworth Family:
Sing a song, sing a song
Spread some cheer, spread some cheer
There are sad and lonely faces everywhere
Be a friend, be a friend
Show some love, show some love
It will lift them from the dungeons of despair
Chorus
Show a little bit of love and kindness
Never go around with hatred's blindness
Take a little time to reach for joy and wear a happy face
Sing a little bit when the days are dreary
Offer a little help to a friend who's weary
That's the way to make the world a happy place
Quite a few years ago, many were sporting bracelets that bore the letters WWJD, which stood for What Would Jesus Do. Even though we don't see as many wearing them these days, it would pay us all to ponder that question when we are around people. How would Jesus treat them? What would He say to them? If we truly would shine our lights and be like Jesus Christ, then we will show much more love and kindness as we travel through this life.
Let's show some extra love and kindness today, remembering that what we sow we will surely reap!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing..............
