Friday's Footnote

2 Corinthians 4:16

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Good morning - and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
It is so hard to believe that 2015 is history, and we are embarking on a new year's journey. We stand on the brink of this new year of 2016. What emotions are we feeling? Anticipation? Excitement? Joy? Adventure?
One thing is sure - we are getting closer and closer to the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If I can put into words what I really desire for this new year, it is to be led by God. To walk the paths that HE chooses for me to walk, hand in hand with Him.
I pray for good things to come to all of my family and friends, and I truly desire that one of my friends receives the greatest healing miracle of all times. God knows her name, and He alone is able to make it happen for her. Surgery, even a transplant, seems imminent but we know the Great Physician, and He can perform what she needs without anesthesia or surgical tools.
This song came to my mind as I began to write today, and I trust it becomes our slogan for this year:
Daystar
by Moginie/Richardson

Lily of the Valley,
Let your sweet aroma fill my life
Rose of Sharon show me
How to grow in beauty in God's sight

Fairest of ten thousand
Make me a reflection of Your light
Daystar shine down on me
Let Your love shine through me in the night

Lead me, Lord, I'll follow
Anywhere You open up the door
Let Your word speak to me
Show me what I've never seen before

Lord, I want to be Your witness
You can take what's wrong and make it right
Daystar shine down on me
Let Your love shine through me in the night

Lord, I've seen a world that's dying
Wounded by the master of deceit
Groping in the darkness
Haunted by the years of past defeat

But, when I see You standing near me
Shining with compassion in Your eyes
I pray, Jesus, shine down on me
Let Your love shine through me in the night

God bless you all as we travel into this new year!

As a footnote, here's a quote I always loved to write down on New Year's Day:
"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day."
