James 5:16-18
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Good morning, and a Wonderful Wednesday to you all!
I love the above verses from the book of James for they give me hope that, if I will be fervent in my praying, God will be faithful in His answering! His word will not and cannot lie because He is the way, the truth, and the life.
Many that I know and some I have only been told about are sick, and the sicknesses are severe. Without God's healing intervention, these individuals will eventually worsen.
Elias, or Elijah, was a man just like we are; he was human. But, this man prayed earnestly that it might not rain. His prayer was answered, and no rain was seen for three and a half years. Then, he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and once again there was fruit on the earth. Elijah had a walk with God so His power source was vast and limitless. Elijah found power in prayer to make his own climate. As one minister said, Elijah was a thermostat - he changed the temperature, rather than being a thermometer that only shows the current temperature. We can be just like Elijah - through prayer we can bring about change.
I so want my prayers to be heard and answered today - not for myself, but for those who need miracles in their bodies. God is able, well able, and He knows no shortage of miracles. We are unable to comprehend just how much He can do and what He is planning on doing even now. Keep praying with faith - the answer is on its way!
An old song has been on my mind since I awoke, and I'll close with its powerful and true lyrics:
There's Power in Prayer
by The Hinsons
Verse One
Somewhere somebody is praying tonight
For a loved one who wandered away from the light
But faith reaches Heaven and God is aware
And forever it's changed
In one moment of prayer
Chorus
Oh, there's power in prayer
Power to spare
All that you'll ever need
Is waiting right there
With just a few words
A child's faith
Then it's good-bye despair
Oh, there's power, so much power
There's power in prayer
Verse Two
A bed holds a body
That's periled in pain
The doctors have tried
But all hope is in vain
But, wait, someone's praying
In the midst of the gloom
And all at once the Great Physician
Steps into the room
On this Wonderful Wednesday, I pray we all hear the whisper of The Wonderful, assuring us that no prayer ever goes unheard and, in His time, the answer will come.
God bless you all until we meet again to share another spoonful!
