Wednesday's Whisper

1 Timothy 6:12

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Good morning, and a Wonderful Wednesday to you all!
Some things in life do not come easy, while others seem to "fall into our laps". This goes for natural and spiritual things. Sometimes you just have to fight for what you want.
When I was quite young, I had one cousin who was very close me, both in relationship and in distance. We got along most of the time but, when we didn't, look out. It would start over something trivial, I'm sure, with some raised voices but, then, I wanted more action. I'd had enough of the verbal discourse - now for the real fight. Those who know me now don't really believe this but it is true that I was the first to start the action. Perhaps I was the first to slap her or pull her hair, then she joined in. Thank God, the fights were never brutal and lasted only minutes. Before long, we were pals again.
I related that story from long ago because I have used the concept in my walk with God. Sometimes the enemies of fear, doubt, worry, etc., just badger me, and their voices finally get on my nerves. Then, the fight in me arises and, with the Word of God as my sword, I started swinging it. ENOUGH, devil!
We read this verse in James:

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The first step is submission to God, then we can resist the devil and watch his backside as he leaves us alone. We are equipped for this fight. We have the armor of God. Why not use it? Too long we have allowed Satan and his imps to taunt us. After all, that is their job and they are doing it well. Why not do our job as soldiers of the cross and fight?

I remember the singer Carman who recorded a song that was often used as a skit. The title was, "Satan, Bite the Dust." How delighted I was when I discovered this verse in Psalms:

Psalm 72:9

They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

The enemy of our souls is working overtime, and we must not allow him to become the victor. WE are the victors. Our faith is our victory. He has come to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus is greater and He brings life and that more abundantly!
As we said when we were kids, "Put up your dukes and fight like a man!" Let's look at our armor in Ephesians 6:10-18, and begin using it!!
God bless you all with a Wonderful Wednesday. Listen close and our Commander in Chief is going to whisper..... FIGHT!!!  Then, let the action begin!
Hope to see you tomorrow with another spoonful of tonic!
