2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Good morning, everybody!
'Tis Sunday! Here's hoping we all have a Special Sunday, and we shall have it with God's help.
In 2 Corinthians 12, we find Paul's account of the thorn he had in his flesh. He sought the Lord three times about this messenger of Satan that was sent to buffet him, and the Lord responded by telling Paul that His "grace is sufficient"; and His "strength is made perfect in weakness." We do not read that the thorn was removed from Paul, but we do read that God's grace was sufficient; it was enough. Through Paul's weakness, God's strength prevailed.
When we are abased, God can exalt us. We must be weak so His strength can take over in our lives. Our abilities are nothing if they are not channeled by and through God. We must decrease so that God can increase in us.
Here's a sweet song I'd like to share today:
His Strength is Perfect
by Steven Curtis Chapman
Verse One
I can do all things
Through Christ who gives me strength
But sometimes I wonder what He can do through me
No great success to show
No glory on my own
Yet in my weakness, He is there to let me know
Chorus
His strength is perfect when our strength is gone
He'll carry us when we can't carry on
Raised in His power, the weak become strong
His strength is perfect, His strength is perfect
Verse Two
We can only know
The power that He holds
When we truly see how deep our weakness goes
His strength in us begins
Where ours comes to an end
He hears our humble cry and proves again
Oh, let us go in the strength of the Lord today on this Special Sunday, relying on His abilities rather than our own.
May this be the best Sunday you've ever seen! Lord willing, I'll be back tomorrow with another spoonful to share!
