Genesis 37:5-7
And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
Good morning, one all!
In light of today being the birthday of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and with respect for the well-known dream that he lived by and died for, this post will be about dreams.
Sometimes, as in the case of Joseph in the Bible, dreams are of God and come for a prophetic reason. Joseph was happy about his dreams even though his brothers were not. Years passed between Joseph's initial dreams and the fulfillment of them but they did indeed come to pass.
The Apostle Paul lived for one purpose (or dream)... To live for Christ. His life was filled with furthering the cause of Christ, and he counted all things but loss just to win Christ (Philippians 3:8). Ultimately, his life's work and dream were cut short when he was martyred for the Christ he came to love and adore.
Dr. King had a dream of better times for his race, and he was emphatic in getting his dream across to people. Sadly, his life's dream was not appreciated by all and someone assassinated him.
What is your dream today? Is it to live and die for the cause of Christ? Is it to make a difference in the secular world? Dreams are good, but they often require much work before they are fulfilled.
Here are a few quotes regarding dreams:
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. - Harriet Tubman
We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort. - Jesse Owens
God bless the dreamers among us today!
