Saturday's Snippet

Psalm 139:16-18

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Good morning - and a Sweet Saturday to all of you!
I love Psalm 139, and wanted to share these three verses in today's blog. The Lord has granted each of us life, and while our little bodies were being developed in our mother's womb, He was recording all our members. David was so touched by the precious thoughts that God had toward him. Many years later, I am overwhelmed with God's thoughts toward me.
On this date in 1953, the Lord saw fit to let me be born in Chicago, IL, to my wonderful parents (who are still alive today, too!). God has blessed my life in so many ways. I have witnessed many seasons changing, but I've also seen a lot of changes in other places. I remember when there were no microwaves, no computers, no cell phones. I remember cars without power windows.
Some of the sweetest things I remember from my childhood were the ice cream truck that came through the neighborhood during the summer, as well as the fruit man, both selling their wares. Early in my childhood, I remember a horse drawn wagon coming through the streets occasionally.
I was blessed to grow up in a time when discipline was strong in the home, the schools, and the churches. We were taught to honor and obey our superiors. Sadly, I have watched this change drastically through the years, and I wish it had never happened.
God has blessed me with a wonderful husband who loves God, me, and our family. We have three children, married, who have blessed us with seven grandchildren (and one on the way) plus three bonus grandchildren! Those grands are truly GRAND, I tell you!
My heart is overwhelmed that God has granted me life and health for these sixty-two years. As a teenager, I never dreamed of living this long. I really thought the Lord would have returned way before now, but the promise still holds - Jesus is coming SOON! Since the age of eleven, when I was born again, I have anticipated His return.
I want to end this blog post with some of the lyrics from an old hymn:
I'm Thankful
Author Unknown

Verse One
Oh, Lord, in my heart, I have something to tell
So I'll start from the first, when on my knees I fell
I asked for mercy, and that You supplied
Now my sins are forgiven; I have nothing to hide
Chorus
Just want to tell You I'm thankful for all that You have done
For the stars and the moonlight, and the setting sun
And when my work on earth is through,
I'm coming home to be with You
Just want to tell you I'm thankful, that's all
Verse Two
When I feel discouraged, you are there to see me through
Of all the friends I have known, there's no One like You
All my needs You supply, oh, that makes me want to cry
Just want to tell You I'm thankful, that's all

To all of my family and friends who stop by - have a Sweet Saturday. Enjoy the day God has given you, and I'm going to do the same. Why, I might just throw confetti everywhere and on everyone!!!
Until tomorrow when, Lord willing, we'll meet again for another spoonful.......
