Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Good morning, and a Wonderful Wednesday to you all!
Do you remember the days when your children were young (some of you have young children now) and they seemed so fidgety? You felt like you were constantly telling them to "be still." In other words, "calm down." Sometimes it worked but other times... you know.
We are God's children and, while I'm sure you feel this way, too, I often feel fidgety inside, with thoughts and worries swirling around inside my mind and heart until I feel like a rubber band about to break. Sweetly comes the tender voice of my Father telling me to "be still," or "calm down." Only after hearing and listening to that still, small voice, then spending time with Him in prayer, can I ever find the peace I really need.
In Psalm 46, the Psalmist David spoke of fears, troubled waters roaring, mountains swelling and shaking, etc., but he also said several times, "God is our strength, The Lord is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge...." Sure, there was trouble but bigger than all the trouble was David's God - and He's OUR God today! So, we need to obey God's Word and His voice and simply, "Be still, and know that I am God..."
Recently, I listened to portions of songs from an album by The Guardians and, finding that I loved every song, I purchased the entire album to add to my iTunes library. This song is on my mind today, and it is truly a complement to today's spoonful:
Be Still and Know that I am God
by The Guardians
Verse One
When trouble in my life is a mystery
And I search to understand but cannot find His plan anywhere
And when I stop to listen, God faithfully
Whispers to my soul the words that let me know
He is there
Chorus
Be still and know that I am God
No matter where you are I'll be your Father forever
Be still and know that I am God
I will never forsake you, no, never
Be still and know that I am God
Verse Two
Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you
No matter what you face there is sufficient grace
For you today
And when you're lost and lonely, you are not alone
He is with you, do not fear
Listen closely, you can hear Him gently say
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
Be still my soul, the Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Cleave to thy God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain
What beautiful and true words both from the Bible and the song's lyrics. Be still - know (be assured of the fact) that God is with us. Do not fear, He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble.
Listen for the Father's whisper today when you feel so uptight.... "Be still.... I am here... I am God... I am in control....Cast your cares on Me because I care for you...."
God bless you, one and all, on this Wonderful Wednesday. May His whispers calm your troubled heart today!
Until tomorrow when, Lord willing, we'll meet again for another spoonful......
