Wednesday's Whisper

Luke 8:48

And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

Good morning, everybody - Welcome to Wonderful Wednesday!!!
The woman had been sick for twelve years. Twelve years - let that sink in! What a long time to suffer from a blood condition, something that weakened her body, likely leaving her very anemic. Doctor visit after doctor visit, money spent, but no results. She was broken in body and in resources. Mark 5:26 states that she "rather grew worse."
But, one day news got around that Jesus was coming. Here was her chance to see the Healer. Gathering all the strength she had left, and with a strong mental resolve - "For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole" (Matthew 9:21) - off she went in search of Jesus.
What she encountered was a huge crowd surrounding Jesus, but still she pressed on. Can you imagine the physical pushing and shoving she endured before she got to Him? Finally, she came behind him and touched the border of her garment (Luke 8:44). IMMEDIATELY her issue of blood stanched (dried up). She was healed!
Not only did SHE feel the miracle but JESUS felt it, too. He turned around and wanted to know who had touched Him. Even Peter was surprised by the question... "Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?" (Luke 8:45) But, the woman, trembling, fell down and, before all the people, told Jesus her story and of her miracle. Jesus called her "Daughter." How special! How endearing!
I wonder how she left Jesus and the multitude that day? Did she skip home, singing all the way? Did she stop by her friends' houses on her journey home to share the good news? I'd like to believe that's what she did. However it happened, we may never know, but we do know that one touch made the difference.
This song is on my mind today, and I feel that it is so appropriate for today's spoonful:
Touching Jesus
(Author Unknown to me)

Verse One
A woman tried many physicians
But grew worse, so to Jesus she came
And when the crowd tried to restrain her
She whispered these words through her pain
Chorus
Touching Jesus is all that matters
Then your life will never be the same
There is only one way to touch Him
You must believe when you call on His name
Verse Two
I was bound when I knelt at that old altar
But they said Jesus could meet my every need
And when this prisoner finally touched Jesus
He set me free, praise the Lord, free indeed!

I'm writing this blog post today with a special friend in mind; a dear Christian lady who has been suffering for quite a few years. She's tried the physicians and spent quite a lot. Now she's trying home remedies - all in search of a cure for her pain. Will you pray for my friend (name withheld)? She needs a miracle, and Jesus is the Miracle Worker. May the answer to her prayers and ours come today - in Jesus Name!!
Lord willing, I'll see you tomorrow for yet another spoonful!
