Tuesday's Tidbit

Psalm 92:13-15

13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
15 To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Good morning, and a Happy September 1st to all of you!
Wow! Where has the year gone? We have awakened to the first day of the ninth month of this year  - amazing! Thank God for each day He has given us. We just finished one month of walking, talking and writing through the Book of Proverbs. It seems rather odd to be on another subject this morning, yet I like the challenge of writing something different each day.
One word stands out in the focus verses for today: flourish. What does this word mean? I found this definition and I liked it:
flourish - (verb) - "(of a person, animal, or other living organism) grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment." I especially liked the part about growing in a "particularly favorable environment."
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord - what a very favorable environment - they are going to flourish, or grow in a healthy and vigorous way! They will also be fat and flourishing even when they are old (I really like that!). I don't have to worry about shriveling up and dying in my walk with God as I see the years pass by, because His Word tells me that I can continue growing and developing until He returns.
My attention was also drawn to verse 15, which I feel is the purpose for why we will be fat and flourishing - "To shew that the Lord is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him." We do not grow and develop to bring glory to US - NO! We flourish to bring HIM glory! It's all about the Lord. All the focus should be on Him. Everything we do should be centered around Him.
Several songs come to mind this morning, but I'll add the chorus of this song, as sung by Phillips, Craig and Dean:
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
It's all about You, it's all about You
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I made it
For it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus

Thanks for joining me today. I pray that you all have a Terrific Tuesday and, as you go about your daily chores, you'll remember to flourish and bring God glory!
Lord willing, I'll meet you back here tomorrow for another spoonful.....
