Psalm 150
1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
A Fabulous Friday to you, my friends:
While I was searching for an online definition for the word praise, I found this sentence on www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary/praise:
A Vocation of Praise. Praising God is a God-appointed calling. Indeed, God has formed for himself a people "that they may proclaim my [God's] praise" ( Isa 43:21 ; cf. Jer 13:11 ). We were created to give God praise, to give Him adoration. To exalt Him high above everything else in our lives. To extol Him. Why? Because no other is more deserving! There is no God like our God; no Rock like our Rock. He alone is worthy of the highest praise. In the book of Psalms alone, the word praise appears 150 times!
We receive praise from people when we do a good deed, and many others in our world receive praise for great accomplishments, but I fear that God gets so little praise compared to all HE has done. He has given us all of Himself; how can we give Him less than all of us? Oh, let us praise our mighty God today. He has done great things for us. He has blessed us abundantly. Even in bad times, He still hovers close and touches us.
I love this song by William Murphy, Praise is What I Do:
Verse One
Praise is what I do
When I want to be close to You
I lift my hands in praise
Praise is who I am
I will praise Him while I can
I'll bless Him at all times
Chorus
I vow to praise You
Through the good and the bad
I'll praise You
Whether happy or sad
I'll praise You
In all that I go through
Because praise is what I do
And I owe it all to You
Verse Two
Praise is what I do
Even when I'm going through
I've learned to worship You
Though my circumstance
Doesn't even stand a chance
My praise outweighs the bad
The Lord deserves so much more praise than I have given. Without Him, I have nothing and I am nothing. I feel something stirring in my heart - I need to give some praise today to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; the image of the invisible God. The One and Only. The Great I Am.
Until tomorrow, Lord willing...............
Friday's Footnote: Let's join together to make this a Fabulous Friday - a day where we give our Father HIGH PRAISE!!
