Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Good morning!
I confess to a lack of inspiration for writing this morning until I opened one of my journals and saw this quote:
"There are no great and small. We fancy others greater than ourselves because they light the divine spark given them, and we do not. It is because we minimize ourselves that we do not accomplish. We do not realize the power of the positions in which we are placed."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our Bible verse for today says that we are His workmanship, and have been created unto good works; God-ordained good works for us to walk in. Everything about us, since we became born again Christians has been ordained by God and given to us by God... and we are supposed to walk in what has been given to us. The quote above admonishes us that some of us seem to do greater things than others but it's simply because they act upon the potential given to them. As in the natural, so it is in the spiritual. If we want to be successful in this life, we must accomplish. If we want to live victoriously in Christ, we must be and do according to the purpose for which He has called us.
In the story of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30, one servant took his five talents and made more; the one servant with two talents did the same; but the one servant who had only one talent, buried his, doing nothing with it. They all had something to present to the Master when He returned, but the one servant handed back to the Lord something still wrapped up and unused. The Bible refers to that servant as wicked, slothful and unprofitable.
Oh, that we would all realize the talents God has given us, and use them all for His glory, and His alone. The talents that He has given us are His very own goods that have been entrusted into our hands, and there will be a reckoning day soon. We all desire to hear those precious words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant....."
Here's a simple chorus to finish up today's spoonful:
If You can use anything, Lord, You can use me
If You can use anything, Lord, You can use me
Take my hands, Lord, take my feet
Touch my heart, Lord, speak through me
If You can use anything, Lord, You can use me
And, one last quote from the late Erma Bombeck:
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me.'"
Until tomorrow, Lord willing............
