2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Good morning, and to all of a you a sweet Saturday!
Have you ever made a promise to someone, or has someone ever made a promise to you? Did you keep your promise, and did they keep their promise? I know I've made promises throughout my life; some I've kept, but some, I'm sad to say, I failed to keep. So it was with my friends, some promises they made to me were kept while others were broken.
How absolutely precious it is whenever God makes a promise to us! There will be a fulfillment of that promise. You can look at the biblical accounts of Abraham, Sarah, Zacharias and Elisabeth (for starters) to find promises that God made and kept. When God makes a promise, as the old saying is, "you can take it to the bank."
Three promises from God came to mind this morning:
You're going to make it:
Isaiah 43:2
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
I will be with you always:
Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
I will come again:
John 14:3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Let's keep believing and holding onto the promises of God - there are many more that I did not list here today (because this is just a spoonful of tonic!). The Lord is faithful, and He always keeps His promises!
Here's an old song we used to sing as children:
Every promise in the Book is mine
Every chapter, every verse, every line
I am standing on His Word divine
Every promise in the Book is mine
We can take God's promises to heart, as they are true and sincere. More importantly, they are personal!
I hope Saturday's snippet leaves you a little more hope than before - snatch a promise, and have a sweet day!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing...................
