Monday's Moment

Ruth 1:16

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Good morning, and a Marvelous Monday to you all!

Forty-one years ago, the above verse (or part of it) appeared on a wedding invitation; a very special wedding invitation, desiring family and friends to attend OUR wedding on May 18, 1974. Wow! How time does fly, and we're still here, by God's grace and goodness.

Where did all these years go? They seem to have flown by. God blessed us with three children, who have married and given us seven grandchildren (as well as three bonus grandchildren). My heart is overwhelmed at the blessings of the Lord upon our lives.

We've traveled a lot, and endeavored to do the work of God through evangelizing, starting home mission churches, and building up a few smaller churches. I believe we have lived in eight different states during our marriage. Being a part of sharing the gospel with people has been a great highlight in our lives.

As we find ourselves in the golden or senior years of our lives, the commitment we made to each other way back in 1974 still holds today. Our prayer now is that God will allow us to "still bring forth fruit in old age" (Psalm 92:14). With the Lord holding OUR hands, and us holding each other's, we will continue on to do His will.

We love God, we love each other, and we love the family that God has blessed us to have and to hold in this life. Our deepest desire is that on the other side of this life, we will all be together for eternity - beholding the Lord, the One who made all this possible for us.

My heart is filled with wonder and awe at God's faithfulness to my husband and me all these years. I'm truly grateful for His blessings!

I found these lyrics to a song entitled "When I Said I Do", by Clint Black... They are how I feel today....

When I said I do, I meant that I will 'til the end of all time
Be faithful and true, devoted to you
That's what I had in mind when I said I do
Truer than true, you know that I'll always be there for you
That's what I had in mind, that's what I had in mind,
When I said I do

Until tomorrow, Lord willing..............
