Psalm 119:16
I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
Psalm 119:109
My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.
Psalm 119:153
Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.
Good morning, and a Marvelous Monday it shall be!!
Have you ever forgotten to do something or to bring something to a certain event? One of the first recollections I have of forgetting something important was when I was in second or third grade. One day was designated as PE day, and we were required to bring our gym shoes for the activities. Well, I forgot my shoes one day, as did two or three other students. While the others went out to play, the forgetful ones had to write lines.
The teacher gave us the terrible assignment of writing one hundred times -" I will not forget my gym shoes." Our hands were so tired by the time we finished writing those one hundred lines, and I believe that it had a positive effect on me because never did I forget my gym shoes again (or at least while I was in that grade!).
Have you ever forgotten something that the Lord has done for you? I believe we all are guilty of this, even though we might not realize we've forgotten. It might do us good to write the three verses listed above one hundred times, or at least this phrase -"I will not forget thy word." We live in such dangerous times, and there is a disturbing increase of complacency among us. I see it everywhere I travel. It's as if people have taken God for granted, when He deserves all our praise, and praise that comes from deep within us.
How can we forget the love and redemption He has extended to us, in bringing us out of the depths of sin into His glorious church? How can we forget the times we know He answered our prayers, or the times He healed us when we were sick? How can we forget the sermons we've heard that have fed our hungry souls? I know we can't remember everything from the beginning of our walk with God, but we need to pause and even write down some of the things God has done for us.
And after our list is completed, offer up a sweet praise unto God. He alone is worthy of our honor, respect, admiration, adoration and praise! He deserves so much more than we are giving Him. I think I'll find some paper in just a little while and begin to write down some of the things God has done for me over the past fifty years. I will likely run out of paper and ink because He's been good to me, and I don't want to forget Him!
This chorus, written by the McGruders, seems appropriate for today's spoonful:
How can I hold my peace
When He's done so much for me?
How can I hold my peace
When He bought my liberty?
How can I hold my peace
When my soul found victory?
I ask you,
How can I hold my peace?
Join with me today in remembering the mighty works of God as they relate to us individually!
Until tomorrow, Lord willing..............
